Congressman Alford Helps Pass FY25 NDAA Out of Armed Services Committee

Washington, DC – Earlier today, Congressman Alford and his colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee passed the FY25 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) out of committee by a vote of 57-1. Within the package, the Congressman secured the following wins for Missouri’s 4th District and our national security community as a whole.
· Report language on: → Army Force Structure Impacts on basic combat training; increasing basic training numbers at Fort Leonard Wood. → The role of the B-21 in Potential China Conflict/Indo-Pacific conflict. → Expanding Munitions for the B-2 (specifically the Guided Bomb Unit-62 Joint Direct Attack Munition) that is housed at Whiteman Air Force Base. → Army Future Soldier Preparation Course expansion. → Army Criminal Investigative Division (CID) Training at Fort Leonard Wood. → The implementation of the Blended Retirement System. · Funding for: → Fort Leonard Wood Advanced Individual Training Barracks, Phase II ($120,000,000). → Flightline fueling facilities at Whiteman Air Force Base. ($19,500,000). → Lake City Ammunition Plant (+ $10,000,000 for 7.62 mm and + $15,000,000 for .50 caliber ammunition). → Fully funds the B-2 and B-21 bombers. → The F-15EX Fighter Jet advanced procurement ($271,000,000). · Also included: → Strategic Telecommunications, Cybersecurity to enable Department of Defense (DoD) investment in the cyber/information in the Indo-Pacific. → Limits the availability of funds for the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering for travel until the delivery of the strategy required for the B-83 (Nuclear Gravity Bomb) Replacement. → Fencing of 25% of the Secretary of Air Force’s travel funds until the Secretary of the Air Force provides the Guard and Reserve Squadron plan from FY24 NDAA. → An F-16 Taiwan Refueling Logistics Briefing to ensure Taiwan receives over 60 F-16s in an appropriate manner. → Isostaic Pressure Advanced Armor Production. → Service Academy Cadets/Midshipman will be authorized to play professional sports in conjunction with recruiting duty.

This critical piece of legislation ensures our military maintains its position as the world's leading fighting force. This year’s NDAA takes substantive steps to deter China in the Indo-Pacific, prioritize the quality of life for our service-members, and protect Missouri’s military assets. The House Armed Services Committee is working to align our resources and efforts towards fostering a resilient, robust, and mission-focused military. I’m proud to have voted for this legislation favorably out of the House Armed Services Committee and will continue to work with my colleagues as the bill advances to the House floor.”
