Rep. Mark Alford today sent a letter including signatures from over 40 House Republicans demanding that Attorney General Merrick Garland and the U.S. Department of Justice investigate Joe Biden’s mishandling of classified documents during his time as Vice President. 

“The American people deserve to know if prior to the midterm elections the White House covered up the fact that Joe Biden left classified documents at his think tank. This is a critically important detail,” said Rep. Mark Alford (R-MO). “That’s why I’ve led a coalition of my colleagues in Congress to demand that Garland investigate and provide answers immediately.”

Rep. Alford’s letter requests that Garland provide the following answers to the American people: 

• Did the White House request to withhold this information prior to the midterm elections?  
• Why did the Biden administration and your Department of Justice fail to disclose this information publicly? 
• Why was a special counsel not appointed and will you appoint a special counsel to investigate President Biden?
• Was Congress ever notified? If yes, when were they notified?
