Washington,
December 29, 2024
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Mark Alford issued the following statement on the passing of the 39th President of the United States, Jimmy Carter (1924–2024): “I was saddened to hear the news today of the passing of President Jimmy Carter at the age of 100. President Carter led an extraordinary life, rising from humble beginnings in Plains, Georgia, to serve as the 39th President of the United States. After leaving office, President Carter's commitment to service grew even stronger. His humanitarian work with organizations like Habitat for Humanity, where he personally helped build homes for families in need, brought hope and shelter to countless Americans; and his efforts to help ensure integrity to democratic nations, left a positive impact on the world. President Carter’s life was deeply rooted in his faith in Jesus Christ, which he shared openly by teaching Sunday school into his later years. He was a loyal husband, a dedicated family man, and a servant leader who inspired others through his actions. His faith, compassion, and tireless dedication to service have left an indelible mark on our nation’s history. May he rest in peace.”
