ICYMI: Congressman Alford Calls Out Biden Administration’s Dangerous Title Insurance Pilot Program

WASHINGTON – Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04), co-chair of the Real Estate Caucus and a member of the Small Business Committee, is sounding the alarm on the Biden administration’s dangerous pilot program to eliminate title insurance requirements in certain real estate transactions. In a recent Washington Examiner op-ed, Alford detailed how this deeply misguided policy threatens homebuyers and lenders while exacerbating barriers to homeownership for everyday Americans.

“For most young Americans, buying a house is out of reach. In fact, a recent report found that the median age of a first-time homebuyer reached an all-time high of 38 years old this year. This is not the America that I grew up in, but now, with a much-needed change in leadership across the federal government, I believe we can reverse this trend,” said Congressman Alford.

In his op-ed, Alford highlighted the dangers of eliminating title insurance, which protects buyers and lenders from legal risks such as unpaid taxes, undisclosed liens, and fraudulent claims. He called on the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) to halt the pilot program, emphasizing that Americans deserve policies that increase affordability and increase the number of single-family homes.
