Congressman Alford Joins Armed Services Colleagues in Secretary Austin Investigation
Washington,
January 11, 2024
Washington, DC – Last night, Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) joined his republican colleagues on the House Armed Services Committee in sending a letter demanding answers on Secretary Austin’s disappearance. Specifically, the letter says: “With conflicts around the world, it is preposterous that you and others in the Department allowed this to occur. This level of confusion surrounding not only your whereabouts, but your capacity to lead the Department has shaken what little confidence existed in any previous commitment to transparency.”
Congressman Alford issued the following statement: “While we all are praying for Secretary Austin’s full recovery, his decision to not disclose his hospitalization to the White House, proper channels within the Pentagon, or the public is irresponsible and dangerous. We must find out who knew about this, why they kept it a secret, and what adjustments can be made to communication protocols moving forward. I look forward to a swift response from the Department of Defense.”
Media inquiries for Rep. Alford should be directed to Austin Higginbotham at 770-519-7894.
