Congressman Alford Introduces Resolution Recognizing Groundbreaking of Fort Leonard Wood

Washington, DC – Yesterday, Congressman Alford introduced a resolution honoring the 83rd anniversary of the groundbreaking of Fort Leonard Wood in Pulaski County, Missouri. The base’s rich history is marked from its early beginnings, where it played a crucial role during World War II – serving as a training facility for over 300,000 soldiers.

 

Congressman Alford issued the following statement:

 

“The history of Fort Leonard Wood dates back to World War II and the installation currently trains 80,000 service members and civilians each year The 83rd anniversary of the groundbreaking at Fort Leonard Wood is a historic milestone. I’m honored to represent this prestigious military installation that trains nearly every branch of the military. As long as I am in Washington, I will do all that I can to support this vital base and the service members, their families, and the community.”
