Chairman Williams and Rep. Alford Lead Visit to Small Business Administration and Meet with Administrator Isabella Guzman
Washington,
December 6, 2023
Washington, DC – Yesterday, Chairman Roger Williams (R-TX) and Congressman Mark Alford (R-MO) led several of their Small Business Committee colleagues in a visit to the Small Business Administration (SBA) and met with Administrator Isabella Casillas Guzman.
Congressman Alford issued the following statement about their visit: “After months of cancelled meetings and Administrator Guzman’s failure to show up before the Small Business Committee, she finally agreed to meet with my colleagues and me. Our visit to the Small Business Administration (SBA) proved to be a productive interaction. As we move through the rest of the 118th Congress, I hope to continue the dialogue between the SBA and our committee members. We must put partisan politics aside and do what is best for American small businesses. After all, without them, our nation would not be what she is today.”
Chairman Williams added: “Our visit to the SBA marked an important step in the Committee’s oversight efforts to hold the SBA accountable to our nation’s job creators. During our meeting with Administrator Guzman, we emphasized the need to hold fraudsters accountable and recoup the hundreds of billions of dollars stolen from the taxpayers through COVID-19 lending programs as well as other issues facing small businesses. Under the Biden administration, small businesses have been saddled with burdensome regulations, making it as difficult as ever to do business. We must ensure the SBA is focused on making life for these entrepreneurs easier.”
