Washington, DC – Yesterday, the House Small Business Committee passed Congressman Mark Alford’s Rural Small Business Administration (SBA) Report Act by a vote of 22-0. The bill will now await consideration on the floor of the House of Representatives for a final passage vote.

As first reported by The Missouri Times, this legislation would require two reports from the SBA, so we know how the SBA is elevating rural small businesses. It is challenging enough to own and operate a small business, and that is especially true for those in rural America. 

Congressman Alford issued the following statement:

“Small business owners face many challenges, and that is especially true in rural areas. We must get back to doing business in America by ensuring the Small Business Administration (SBA) is working for the American people. Marking up and passing The SBA Rural Performance Report Act out of Committee is a crucial first step in accomplishing just that. I am proud to have my colleagues support in building an entrepreneurial environment in rural America.”

“Today’s markup shows, yet again, that this Committee is committed to producing commonsense legislation. The five bills we marked up and reported favorably to the full House are a step in the right direction. My colleagues and I on both sides of the aisle will continue to collaborate on new ideas with the shared goal of supporting our nation’s primary job creators.”
