February 19, 2026
Today, Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) announced a federal grant award of $13,333,000 for the Kansas City Area Transit Authority (KCATA). This grant will support KCATA in buying and rehabilitating buses, vans, and related equipment, and building and rehabilitating bus facilities. Specifically, this funding will help ensure the Kansas City Metro Region is represented as the best the heartland has to offer as we host the upcoming World Cup matches this summer. “I’m thrilled to announce more than $13.3 million in funding for KCATA to support the transportation needs of the Kansas City Metro Region as we prepare to host the 2026 World Cup,” said Congressman Alford. “As the only member of the House Appropriations Committee from Missouri or Kansas, we are proud to have played a critical role in securing this funding through our consistent advocacy. This funding will not only support Kansas City, but it will also help Fourth District communities in Jackson and Cass Counties prepare for this global event. We’ll continue to ensure the folks from all over the world who visit the Kansas City area this summer will experience the very best the Show Me State has to offer.” Background:
