Alford Applauds Trump Administration’s New Financial Assistance Program for Famers
Washington,
December 8, 2025
Today, Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) issued the following statement in response to the Trump Administration announcing $12 billion in financial aid to American farmers. This follows a letter from Congressman Alford to Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent urging the Administration to urgently provide direct financial assistance to agricultural producers. “We strongly support the Trump Administration’s efforts to provide direct financial assistance to our nation’s farmers as we called for this fall,” said Congressman Alford. “As the farm economy continues to grapple with years of devastation—primarily driven by the previous administration’s war on fossil fuels and inflationary policies—this aid will be a vital lifeline to help Missouri producers make ends meet. The newly created Farmer Bridge Assistance program will deliver much needed certainty as they market this year’s harvest and prepare to plant the next season’s crop. My office stands ready to help farmers in the Fourth District access this critical assistance.” $11 billion of the aid will fund a new Farmer Bridge Assistance program, which is designed to provide one-time payments to row-crop farmers to help our producers recover from market disruptions. An additional $1 billion will be reserved for producers of other crops, to be determined by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) based on market conditions. ### |
