Alford, Scholten Introduce Legislation to Help Small Businesses Evaluate and Adopt AI
Washington,
October 20, 2025
Congressman Mark Alford (MO-04) and Congresswoman Hillary Scholten (MI-03) introduced the AI for Main Street Act. This bipartisan bill directs the Small Business Administration (SBA)’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) to help small businesses evaluate and adopt artificial intelligence (AI) by providing guidance, training, and outreach. It builds on existing efforts like America’s SBDC AI U program, expanding access to AI support nationwide. That’s why we’re introducing the AI for Main Street Act to provide small businesses with the resources, education, and training needed to utilize artificial intelligence.” “This legislation isn’t just about technology - it’s about building an economy and a future that works for everyone, from Silicon Valley all the way to Main Street,” said Rep. Scholten. "As AI creates new industries, reshapes old ones, and redefines the skills people need to succeed, this bill will make sure small businesses aren’t being left behind. I am proud to be introducing this commonsense, bipartisan legislation and I look forward to working with my colleagues to get it passed.” “Artificial intelligence has the power to make small businesses more efficient, competitive, and resilient, but only if they have the tools to use it,” said House Small Business Committee Chairman Roger Williams (TX-25). “Representative Alford’s bill helps entrepreneurs harness that potential by providing the training and guidance they need to use these tools effectively. By empowering Main Street to embrace innovation, we’re keeping America’s small businesses strong, competitive, and ready for the future.” ### |
