What's Going On In Washington

Hey folks. My team and I are working hard in Washington and in the District!

I wanted to take time and reflect on some of the legislation we are working on and productive meetings we are having in Washington:

This week, I introduced The American Land and Property Act to stop foreign adversaries from buying American real estate. This orders the president to take action prohibiting nonresidents, businesses, agents, trustees or fiduciaries associated with the governments of China, Russia, North Korea and Iran from purchasing U.S. land. My team will continue to raise the alarm about foreign adversaries threatening our national security, agricultural. production and military interests. Read more on Fox News here.

This week, the Small Business Committee held a hearing  on reviewing the Small Business Administration's Small Business Size Standards. The Committee gathered to shed light on how small businesses are often times not included in the federal procurement marketplace. We are looking forward to working on legislation that will help Main Street succeed.

I led a letter alongside House and Senate republicans to Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin regarding a manufacturing facility with Chinese Communist Party ties being built less than 100 miles from crucial military installations in Kansas and Missouri. The Daily Caller first obtained the letter; read more here.

My team and I met with Secretary of the Army, Christine Wormuth. We had a fruitful conversation that covered many important topics: Fort Leonard Wood, recruitment numbers, and issues related to national security.

I spoke in the Quality of Life hearing, which served as a crucial platform for addressing the challenges and well-being of our nation's service members - something that is critically important. The panel will continue to address these problems and work on shaping policy that will enhance the quality of life for Whiteman Air Force Base and Fort Leonard Wood.

Lastly, I want to share with everyone that I host a syndicated radio show/podcast in DC with various members of congress every week. This offers a unique opportunity for you to meet the fantastic people I'm working with daily to shape America's policies. It gives you a look into the behind-the-scenes action, sharing the stories, news, and legislation that helps you better understand day-to-day operations in DC. Check out one of our recent episodes with Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee: Congressman Jason Smith here.

Mark's Message

Hey folks, this week I want to touch on two important items: first, the failed Secret Senate border deal that was just stopped by House Republicans and the failed vote in the House of Representatives to impeach Secretary Mayorkas.

On the Senate Border Deal:

First, on the border deal, is a bad deal - plain and simple.

This was a secret deal worked out behind closed doors and is dead-on-arrival in the House.

This $118 billion bill allocates more than half of its funds, $60 billion, to Ukraine, which is 92 times greater than the $650 million that the bill designates for the U.S. border wall.

That is categorically unacceptable.

Every Senator took an oath to uphold our laws, including our border security and immigration laws. Yet, their bill would allow up to 5,000 illegal aliens to walk across our border per day before any security measures are enforced. That’s could be more than 1.8 MILLION illegals per year.

This bill is a disaster: It codifies illegal immigration and the invasion of our southern border, while spending billions we don’t have on other countries. This bill is selling out the American people, and I will not stand for it.

I’m a hard “NO”.

It's high time the Senate followed the lead of House Republicans and pass #HR2, which would actually secure the border and return our country to the effective Trump policies that resulted in the most secure border in our nation's history.

On Mayorkas:

For months, I've been calling for the impeachment of Secretary Mayorkas and will not stop despite a failed vote on the House floor. The expectation is for us to bring up another vote to impeach Mayorkas next week. This is not a one-and-done vote, and I will shout it until I'm blue in the face: his policies have enabled 8 million illegal aliens to enter the United States, and it must be stopped.

He must be impeached.

In The Media

Real America's Voice

I spoke on Real America's Voice about our recent legislation expressing that we cannot allow citizens of adversarial nations to purchase land, buildings or anything else in the United States. Congress must protect America.

Fox Business

I joined Fox Business to express my deep concern for our brave men and women in uniform under Joe Biden's policies. Congress cannot continue with this failing policy that weakens America on the world stage.

Newsmax

I talked with Newsmax again about President Biden's policies and how they have demonized the Fossil Fuel Industry. My team will continue to work to strip the language that enforces the ESP rules in the Farm Bill. American farmers deserve to be successful.

Speaking on The Border Crisis

I went to the House Floor to make it clear to the world how serious the border crisis is.

Just this fiscal year, 49 people on the terrorist watchlists have been caught trying to enter the U.S., and there have been 1.7 million 'gotaways.'

Our nation deserves nothing short of a completely secure and safe border.

Supporting the Kansas City Chiefs on the House Floor

I congratulated the Kansas City Chiefs for their upcoming Super Bowl appearance on the House Floor. For four times in the last five seasons, our Chiefs have been AFC champions and been to the Super Bowl. My team can't wait to watch them do it again this Sunday.

GO CHIEFS!
