Leading the House Republican Conference in Urging Speaker Johnson and House Leadership to Prioritize Passing the

Farm Bill This Year

This week, we were honored to lead 139 of our House colleagues in a letter showing House leadership that Republicans are committed to passing a Farm Bill that supports our nation’s constituents, farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.

We passed the Farm Bill out of committee, and now, it's time to give it to America. The stakes are high; production costs are up, and farm income is declining.

We don’t need an extension, and we don’t need this next year – we need this Farm Bill now. Our producers are worthy of certainty and support for their tireless work in feeding, fueling, and clothing the world.

Introducing the Rural Innovation and

Small Business Support Act

Small businesses are the fabric of America. Too often, the opportunities to contract with the federal government are limited to coastal cities.

This is why we introduced the Rural Innovation and Small Business Support Act. It’s time for the government to include rural Americans in key Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

Small Business Committee

On the Small Business Committee last week, we spoke with Small Business Administrator Guzman. I told her that the next time she is in Kansas City, I would love to have her speak directly to MO-04 constituents about how the Small Business Administration is going to solve the problems they are facing — instead of just registering more Democrat voters.

Hello, folks. I want to take a moment to talk about something that is absolutely critical to the future of our nation: the Farm Bill.

This week, I led a letter to House leadership, joining forces with 139 of my colleagues in the House, including Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, Congresswoman Mary Miller, and Congresswoman Jen Kiggans, to send a clear message to Speaker Mike Johnson and House leadership. Our letter reaffirms House Republicans’ commitment to advancing a Farm Bill that meets the needs of production agriculture and rural America. This isn't just any bill—this is about the lifeblood of rural America, and it affects every single one of us.

Our farmers, ranchers, and producers are the backbone of this country. They work tirelessly from dawn to dusk, ensuring that our families have food on the table, fuel in our tanks, and clothes on our backs. They deserve a farm bill that supports their efforts and gives them the certainty they need to keep doing what they do best. Right now, they’re operating under outdated policies, and we can't let them down by making them wait another year for this crucial legislation.

Back in May, the House Agriculture Committee, which I proudly serve on, passed H.R. 8476, the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024. This is a comprehensive piece of legislation that comes around every five years, and it's designed to meet the needs of production agriculture and rural America. It’s a bill that ensures Americans have access to the safest, most abundant, and most affordable food supply in the world. It’s about our food security, our national security, and our way of life.

One of the most critical components of this farm bill is crop insurance. This isn't just a safety net—it's a lifeline for our farmers. It provides them with the security they need to take on the risks that come with farming, from unpredictable weather to fluctuating markets. Without it, many of our farmers would be left vulnerable, and we can't afford to let that happen. This is why we’ve come together, 140 strong, to urge House leadership to take action. We need this bill on the floor, and we need it now. Our agriculture community has shown incredible resilience and dedication, and they deserve our full support. They’re not just feeding us—they’re feeding the world.

I want to be clear: agriculture is not a partisan issue. It's an American issue. Whether you’re from the heartland, the coasts, or anywhere in between, agriculture impacts you. It impacts your family, your community, and our country’s future. That’s why I’m committed to fighting for this bill and making sure that our farmers, ranchers, and producers have the tools they need to thrive.

Thank you for entrusting me to be your voice and your vote in Washington. I’m here to ensure that your concerns are heard and your needs are met. Together, we will get this farm bill across the finish line.
